on moderation

Extremes in most cases aren't good, even if they are an extreme of a certain positive quality or condition. If someone is feeling an extreme of an emotion, they wont pay attention to their other ones or whats going on around them. Too much of anything in the body is known to be bad. Too much of an ingredient could spoil a recipe, too much food will spoil the body, etc. If someone gets carried away with what they are doing or feeling things could go bad, and theres even a chance they won't know why. Instead of blindly making an assumption and going through with preaching about it and expecting people to agree, thinking it through and considering all the different points on a subject would make a person wiser on it. With moderating and paying attention to how one feels, they can better assess themselves and their environment.

Very well put Liz. I never thought of moderation as much of an importance, but now I can see what you mean by this. Moderation is a good thing to have in all situations.

Liz,I so enjoyed your essay. One point in your discourse on moderation was particularly appealing to me and applicable to the current times, specifically the national election. It would be so advantageous to have a president with these qualities you speak of,the ability to look at both sides of an issue,to truly consider the repercussions of a decision on other people's lives and not to be narrow minded or one dimensional, adhering to a strict unwavering school of thought. We could all benefit from such vision when interacting with others!
